Un diva peut quelquefois utiliser un compagnon

A diva can sometimes use a companion

Kerri Pajutee

This is my first time doing a makeover in 1:6 scale, as I usually work in 1:12 dollhouse miniature scale.  My expertise is in OOAK animal sculpture, which I add realistic fur coats to.  Lately, I have branched out to 1:6 scale animals and wanted to give this Natalia a big furbaby companion -- a Cheetah.  The cheetah was created by hand in polymer clay over wire armature, then fired in the oven, painted with acrylics and finally a fiber coat was applied using natural alpaca flocking. His spots are detailed in Fabrico fabric inks.

I love the features on this doll and wanted to keep her as simple as possible, showing off her natural beauty.  I gave her a relax boil perm with conditioner and a bit of a trim to her hair. Her gown was fashioned in an Egyptian-inspired, sheer, off-white fabric, set off with a black shawl and gold earrings.

I do have a website - but most of it is dedicated to my scale miniature animals. I do own a few Fashion Royalty dolls and a half dozen BJDs live in my private collection, and I have lots of fun 'playing with my girls' when I get a chance to make a new outfit or pet for them.

Un peu de thé; un petit rodéo! ?!

A little tea; a little rodeo!?!

Kelsie Aman & Dawn Anderson

"Late for Tea" is an OOAK collaborative creation by fashion artist, Kelsie Aman and doll artist, Dawn Anderson. Natalia Fatale first took a trip to Dawn’s studio where she received a full facial repaint with quality acrylics and sealers. Working with just an idea of what the finished doll would look like, Dawn used a subtle, more serene palette with a range of colors that would give a softer, more innocent look while still retaining this doll’s natural smoldering beauty. When Dawn finished the doll she now had blue eyes and lips of raspberry sorbet; lips that were lifted in a slightly mysterious smile. Soft wisps of hair were added at the existing hairline, and all features were sealed for longevity.

Natalia then flew to the Kelsie’s fashion studio where she was fitted from head to toe for an amazing OOAK fantasy costume. Her full mane of black hair was styled into an intricate Marie Antoinette type coif and adorned with whimsical pieces straight from a garden tea party! Kelsie's inspiration definitely came from her love of tea parties and from her being a big fan of the story of Alice in Wonderland. She sees this Avant Garde gown as being her interpretation of Mrs. Lovett (Sweeney Todd) meeting the Mad Hatter. Its deeper jewel tones are interesting; not at all the softer pastels most people would associate with a garden tea party – but that’s the way Tim Burton-like characters often develop! These jewel tones speak to the night rather than the day – thus explaining her “Late for Tea” title!

Kelsie’s fashions are sold under the name of Mutant Goldfish Designs and doll artist, Dawn Anderson is available at One Sixth Sense aka OSS. A full color OSS/MGD certificate of authenticity will accompany this OOAK work of doll art. Both Kelsie and Dawn wanted to say “Thank you, Jim, for allowing both OSS and MGD to take part in this delightful project for IFDC's charity auction!” Be sure to check out their websites for additional pictures of their reimagined Natalia as well as their other delightful offerings.

Vicky Lujan-Gibbs

Vicky is a beginner designer. She has learned a lot from many wonderful designers, and is still learning. She currently is "in training" to make her own patterns. A country girl at heart, Vicky loves the rodeo and Professional Bull Riding. It isn't a surprise then that she loves to make jeans for all her dolls. But for IFDC she thought jeans may not be appropriate, so she decided to make Natalia a nice pair of slacks with a top. To make the doll unique, she took all her hair out, and replaced it with wigs. I say wigS because along with the wig cap, two wigs will accompany Natalia when she goes home - one in black and one in carrot red. Vicky wants to thank Jim for letting her do this as a beginner, and hopes whoever bids on her will enjoy her. Be sure to visit Vicky's website for more of her creations.

Le Parisien gais et style de chasse ornent nos pages!

Gay Parisian and hunting style grace our pages!

Liz Cole

I'm Liz Cole of "RETROS" I live in Seattle, WA and have been sewing fashions for dolls for over 20 years. I started designing and doing repaints for Barbie, and have expanded to all the other size fashion dolls and BJDs. I currently have a webstore on Etsy.

JO AYRES

My name is Josephine (or Jo) Ayres, and I am a self-taught creative person who loves a challenge. I am based in Perth, Australia. Everything is handmade by me except the stockings using vintage and new materials. This year's IFDC doll I've done I'm calling "Runway Runaway." She comes with handmade shoes, a fake fur stole in "fox" that is fully lined. I used a houndstooth weave material for both her outfit and her hat; also silk, ribbons, and plenty of lace.

The gloves are made of the same lace as the collar so they match. The vest is lined and comes off to reveal a tube dress with inserted lace pleats. The hat is lined and features black and red tulle ribbon, and has matching red roses on it in the hunting style. Earrings are pearl and diamonte beads.

The doll received and hair cut and features French braiding at the back ; red ribbon constrasts the black curls. I also did a repaint and enhancement, and she will come with a certificate of authenticity. You can
see more of my dolls
on my website.

La Maille En métal ajoute un contact spécial!

Metal Mesh adds a special touch!

Laurie Everton

I'm Laurie Everton from “The Barbie Canvas” and Ive been doing OOAK dolls now for about 10 years. Mod and celebrities are my favorites to do; mod because I had them as a girl, and will always love mods, and Celebrities because I'm a portrait artist. I've been able to draw portraits in pencil as far back as junior high. I've taken art all through high school and some in college; specifically in Graphic Design and Advertising - and even had a couple of my drawings published.

My dolls have made an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres in the viewer art segment, and local Fox news several times now. I even recently had the opportunity to work with Lita Ford on a special OOAK for breast cancer. My goal is to keep challenging myself by constantly improving with each OOAK.

This Natalia has had a total reroot with KatSilk saran hair, and a total facial repaint with Golden acrylic and sealers. Her outfit is handmade from metal mesh with hand painted boots.

To see more of my OOAKS, or to contact me, visit my website. You will also find "The Barbie Canvas" on Facebook.

D'hiver ne s'est jamais senti si belle!

Winter never felt so beautiful!

KEVIN KILMER

I am more or less professionally known by an anagram of my initials, CLICKDESIGNSbyKEVIN. I have been making and designing OOak dolls and clothing for over a decade now. My primary focus these days is on making OOAK evening gowns and daywear for 1/6 scale dolls.

I have been involved in the doll arena for MANY
years of my life, from an early age - like 5 years old. My folks who have both passed now instilled the love for dolls and toys in me. They owned and operated an antique reproduction and doll repair business for many years; making and restoring many of the prominent French and German antique bisque porcelain dolls. My Dad is actually the one who taught me how to sew, but, unfortunately, he didn’t live to see my somewhat small degree of success I have had in my chosen arena on 1/6 scale work.

I've had the distinct honor of being one of the many talented artists to be featured in one of Jim Faraone's Learn from the Artists series of books, which was a great honor for me. I have collaberated with some great doll artists thru the years. One I am particularly proud of was my collaberative work with Juan Albuerne from Spain. Juan and I collaberated on several versions of Liza Minnelli, Bette Midler, andPeggy Lee to name a few.

My OOAK Natalia has a stunning white dupioni silk gown that is fully lined in silk, and the gorgeous part is the thousands of star shaped sequins and beads that make up the design of the dress. Natalia truly shines brightly. And, I thank Jim for giving me the honor again of being one of the chosen artists to make a OOAK Natalia for IFDC 2010. Thanks for looking! Just email Kevin if you're interested in talking with him more about his doll work.

Une poupée de mode réinventé

One doll...........reinvented many ways!!

Out of the mind of Jim Faraone comes a project so delicious it could only be tackled by his friends in his Fashion Doll Makeover group. And, oh, what talented friends he has!

The Project:

Jim would send each artist Integrity's Natalie Fatale BACK TO BLACK (nude) for a special sale in support of the IFDC at the 2010 convention.

Each artist would do a fashion doll makeover on this doll and return it to him no later than May 2010.

No restrictions were given to the artists as to theme or preferred style to use - they all were being given a blank canvas!

Jim led the pack, completing FOUR dolls by
New Year's 2010!!

Jim Faraone has been creating OOAK dolls since 1986 and is the author of the series of books "Fashion Doll Makeovers, Learn from the Artists." Jim is the Chairman of the International Fashion Doll Convention (IFDC) which is an annual convention for all fashion dolls held in Las Vegas each year. Read about the.........IFDC

CHERYL CASTILLON

Cheryl joined Jim's online group in 2001, and has been a member since then. Cheryl creates OOAK dolls and also outfits. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina came took everything from Cheryl and her family. It also took away her desire to create dolls. It has been four years and she's finally getting back to creating. Cheryl wishes to thank Jim for the motivation when he sent out an email asking for help with the IFDC makeover Natalia. She has been working on dolls for the last month. Cheryl loves to do beadwork and especially loves to make bellydancers. Now she has lots of ideas floating around in her brain and her fingers are itching to work! PATTY HAGAR

Patty Hagar is 54 years young, lives in Northern California, and has been collecting dolls forever. She only discovered Fashion Royalty girls a little over a year ago, and has added them to her collection of Silkstone Barbies.

She considers herself a novice when it comes to styling hair, but definitely can crochet a dress because she has been crocheting for dolls for four years now. She doesn't like to crochet for people though, because it takes too long. She features her crocheted fashions on..........Photobucket and you can email Patty if you find something you are interested in.

JOE BOURLAND

Joe Bourland lives in the great state of Texas, and started designing dolls in March of 2001. Getting into designing was purely an accident. Designing Barbies was her sister's dream; Joe had not even looked at a Barbie in over 30 years. Against her better judgment she pulled together a used Barbie, a few scraps of material from a nearby Wal-Mart, and started her first attempt at "dressing a Barbie." What a nightmare that design was! But no more - through the years she's had the time of her life; never having this much fun playing with Barbies when she was a little girl. She claims no degrees or formal training in design work. Her dreams are the institutions of learning for her doll designs.
